About ConversionBench

ConversionBench answers the single most-Googled CRO question: is my conversion rate good? We publish percentile distributions (p25/p50/p75) for 8 cited sources across 18 industries and 14 metrics, with a calculator that ranks your number against the distribution.

What makes this site different

Most published benchmark roundups give you one number — “the median CVR is 2.35%”. We give you three: the bottom-quartile, median, and top-quartile. That tells you not just where the average is, but where the bar is for being good at this.

And because we only cite primary research with disclosed methodology and sample size, every benchmark links back to its source. No fabricated numbers. No “industry estimates” sourced from competitor blogs. When data isn’t available for a combination, we say so — research-pending rather than invented.

Methodology

  1. Source selection. Each metric has a primary source — annual reports from Baymard Institute, WordStream, Adobe, Mixpanel, Contentsquare, Littledata, HubSpot, or VWO. We rate each source 1-10 on credibility based on sample size, methodology transparency, and recency. Sources scoring ≤6 are not cited as primary.
  2. Row state. Every benchmark row is one of three states.Verified rows are direct readings from a credibility-7+ source.Derived rows interpolate from the primary source plus adjacent verticals (and disclose this on the page). Research pendingrows don’t ship as a public page — they 404 — until a credible source lands.
  3. Percentile interpolation. The calculator uses piecewise linear interpolation between p25 / p50 / p75 anchor points, with diminishing returns above the 75th. Lower-is-better metrics (cart abandonment, churn) flip the curve so that low rates score high.
  4. Annual refresh. Data refreshes once per year when primary sources publish their next-year reports. Year stamp on every benchmark.
